Seaweed.

OK, it's "just" seaweed, but I thought it was very beautiful, and just had to get a picture.

One of the things that I love about photography is that, when I have my camera with me, I am much more attentive to my surroundings. I work harder to see what there is to be seen. And that gets me out of my head, out of the monkey mind that goes yammering on and on, yada yada... and so forth and so on... and another thing, etc..

In one of Natalie Goldberg's books, she writes that once, when she was feeling inadequate as a Zen student, she discussed it with her teacher. He told her that her writing was her practice. Makes sense. I think that being a writer is a lot like having a camera that you carry around: it encourages you to pay attention, because you are going to be writing about, and describing, what you are seeing and hearing.
