Chicago Sunset

Sunset in Chicago!

They have some really tall buildings in this town...

My friend Rob reminds me that, although I have published pictures that I took at our Mindfulness-Based Wellness poster presentation at APS, I never really said anything about the presentation!

In short: it went very well. We were fortunate to have been placed among the "theme" posters, so we were placed in a great location, with a lot of other posters and presenters, all of whom were working on research about mind, body, and brain-related projects. So the traffic through the exhibit room included a lot of people (mostly academic and research types, professors and grad students and post-docs, etc.) who really had a strong interest in the type of work that we were doing. We had a lot of people who not only stopped by our poster to read it, but they also took handouts, and asked us a lot of good questions about the project. That sort of involvement and feedback is amazingly important and energizing for people who have engaged in the considerable drudgery and tedium that goes along with research... it makes you realize that you really are part of a larger community that appreciates and understand your work... and it makes you want to persist, even when it might be very difficult.
