Buy Books!

An update on this blog: I have succumbed to commercialism. I saw a nifty little Amazon book-advertising widget on various of other people's blogs, and thought it was cool, and I got one of them for this blog. Actually, I got two of them. The first one, which is up near the top of the sidebar, is a straightforward list of books I recommend, with a short comment for each book about why I recommend it. The other one, which I put down at the bottom of the page, claims that it will generate recommendations for books and other stuff, based on the actual content of this blog... well, we'll see about that. So far what I have seen is that it is picking out stuff that I have bought from Amazon in the past, including a flatbed scanner, and a mystery novel by Lee Child (it was a fun read, but recreational reading kind of falls outside even the very broad scope of this blog).

Best of all: Amazon says that they will give me a small portion of the proceeds of books sold by way of the links on this blog! So if you buy one of these books, by clicking to Amazon through this blog, I might get a nickel! Or a dime, maybe! So I encourage you to buy books!
