Evangelizing the Military by Questionable Imagery

It appears that the Department of Defense is now cooperating with a group of fundamentalist Christians to evangelize our troops in combat zones. These people are promoting their brand of Christianity with a video game based on the "Left Behind" series, and with t-shirts on which are printed hugely muscular guys beating up other guys, apparently for Jesus. I linked a blog post about this over under del.icio.us. Amazing stuff. One blogger characterizes the images on the t-shirts as "homoerotic," and that may well be accurate. Certainly, the guys portrayed do not display a typical physique, and their gigantic muscles might indeed play on covert (or overt) attractions that men have for each other. At any rate, it appears to be an example of using violent and sexual imagery to sell… religion? What next?
